Talk about doing work you love. Lindsay Shostal has always been passionate about dogs and loves being active, especially outdoors. It made sense to combine these two passions and start a dogwalking business. So she founded The Hydrant in 2009 and her doberman pinscher has been in heaven ever since.

Lindsay is a Whatta Pup! trained dog walking professional, and keeps up-to-date on dog training and behavior studies. She attended Humber College for Creative Photography and Business Administration. Later she pursued a career in Fitness Mangement where she was Regional Manger for a large chain of fitness clubs in Toronto.

In 2008, Lindsay adopted a 3 month old doberman pinscher named Logan. He was probably the worst puppy in Toronto! At this time, Lindsay was working full time and had found a local dog walker to exercise Logan a couple times each day. But to her dismay within 3 weeks, she got the 'break up' email from the dog walker infoming her that Logan was too much to handle.

Inspired by the challenge of finding someone who could handle Logan, Lindsay launched The Hydrant to cater to the specific needs of larger dogs. She considers Logan a co-founder as he was the main inspriation behind the launch of the walking service. Logan is Lindsay's constant and loyal companion, following her everywhere, watching over the pack and keeping things in good running order. Logan is finally starting to mature a little but that doesn't mean he's not up for a good puppy play-date or a good run with smaller dogs nipping at his heels.

Like most things Linday does, one thing lead to another. With a lack of creative in her life, she started to make Logan the dog collars that she couldn't find in local stores. With this, The Hydrant line of dog collars & leashes was developed.

With a personal interest in large breeds, Lindsay can easily handle the largest and strongest breeds out there. Everything she has learned from raising Logan has contributed to her understanding of the special requirements of large breed dogs.
